Winter in London
London can be a magical place, but no time is this more true than in the winter. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see exactly what I mean! But even after the Christmas lights begin to fade, the cold and frosty afternoons make the city look even prettier than usual.
I hopped on a train and met my friend Anna for a day of fun in the capital. Having met at Marble Arch, we cruised the tourist hotspots for somewhere to grab a bite, and opted for Aubaine after browsing the shoe section in utter awe in Selfridges.
In my opinion, any restaurant with THOSE floor tiles, cute waiters, and wisteria hanging from the walls and ceiling is off to a good start!
But the real starter was this salmon tartare – Anna went for sweetcorn soup, and both were de-lish.
We followed up with lobster spaghetti for her, and a prime steak burger for me. If I’m honest, both were overpriced and a little disappointing, and not particularly photo-worthy (soz). Better luck next time, Aubaine!
In search of an adrenaline rush, we walked over to Hyde Park’s main attraction in the cooler months – Winter Wonderland. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s basically a festive fairground with dozens of rides, bars, and eateries to get you in the Christmas mood.
After a mulled wine and feeling a little ropey after a slightly exhilarating ride (my stomach ain’t what it used to be!), we headed back to Oxford Street for another peek around the shops. Check out these bad boys in Selfridges…
Almost too good to eat!? Feeling a little worse for wear, I met my family who were also in London, and took a walk along Southbank. This was timed perfectly, as the sun was setting and the view was just incredible…
Not bad at all, London! Stopping for coffee in Southwark after discovering Borough Market was closed – boo! – we walked back for more beautiful sights of the City.
After racking up over 20,000 steps, I felt very ready to sit down for a couple of hours on the way home (only after a Five Guys from Westfield, of course!)
