The best Cheltenham nightclubs
Popworld, Regent Street
If you don’t end up at Popworld ’til 4am, have you really been out in Cheltenham? If you’re in the mood for a fun-filled night of guilty pleasures and cheesy tunes, look no further than Popworld. This lively nightclub specialises in retro pop hits, dancefloor anthems, and sing-along classics that will have you reminiscing and dancing all night long. What it lacks in non-sticky floors, it makes up for in drinks promos. Get ready to unleash your inner pop star and party like it’s the ’80s, ’90s, or 2000s at Popworld. One of the best Cheltenham nightclubs, Popworld is open until 4am every night.
MooMoo Clubrooms, Regent Street
Located conveniently next to Popworld, MooMoo Clubrooms (aka ‘MooMoos’, or simply ‘Moos’ for short) is one of Cheltenham’s longest-standing nightclubs. Having spent many a night here on a school night, the club has rightly earned a reputation for a decent night out. Inside, you’ll find multiple rooms, including a large dancefloor, a lounge, and a pop-art inspired room. They play a bit of everything, from R&B to pop to dance music, and are open ’til 3am most nights.
Home & Botanic, St George’s Road
A popular Cheltenham nightclub, Home & Botanic is probably the best place to head after a day at Cheltenham Races. Having celebrated my 18th birthday here (OK, it was a long time ago!), I like Home & Botanic because it’s set in a beautiful Regency building and has multiple floors for all kinds of fun. There’s a piano bar where you can sing along to requested songs, a disco room, a club room, a botanic gin room, and even a German-style beer house. It’s well worth a visit if you fancy partying until the early hours. It’s open until the (very) early hours on weekends.
Under the Prom, Promenade
A short walk from my beloved Subtone (RIP), Under the Prom is nestled beneath the streets of Cheltenham on The Promenade. Long gone are the days when they used to sell nitrous oxide balloons, but it’s still a popular haunt for the younger generation at weekends, and especially racegoers during meets. A hidden gem for underground music enthusiasts, Under the Prom, one of the best Cheltenham nightclubs, churns out cocktails, pop bangers, and has three different bars.
Fancy a few cocktails beforehand? Here’s my guide to the best bars in Cheltenham.
Coco, Regent Street
Coco is another classic basement bar and Cheltenham nightclub. Having been in Cheltenham for nearly 10 years, you’ll find great DJs every weekend and a range of decent cocktails. It’s centrally located, making it the perfect pitstop en route to and from other bars and clubs in town. If you visit during Race Week, you can expect it to go wild.
The 2 Pigs Church Street
The 2 Pigs is a Cheltenham nightclub that has existed since I can remember. For those looking for a more alternative and intimate nightclub experience, The 2 Pigs on Church Street is ideal. This quirky venue has eclectic décor, friendly staff, and live music performances. From indie rock to punk, ska, and electronic beats, it’s good for music lovers of all tastes. Do note that this venue turns into a strip club during Cheltenham Race Week in March.
Revolution, Clarence Parade
This chain bar is set in a beautiful old church (yep, in Cheltenham we have a habit of turning gorgeous old religious institutions into chain bars and restaurants). Despite being a chain, Revs is an institution when it comes to Cheltenham nightclubs. It’s pretty expansive and set across two floors, meaning two bars and two dancefloors. It’s good fun on weekend nights with a DJ, popular music, pitchers and shot sticks to fuel your night out.
From dance floors to alternative hangouts, Cheltenham has a mix of nightclubs to suit different nights out and music tastes. Whether you want to dance to chart toppers, cheesy classics, or indie music, there’s something for everyone.
