A Visit to New York City and the High Line

I was recently lucky enough to hop over to the Big Apple for a business trip. It has been a while since I last visited New York, so I was keen to make the most of my free time, including fitting in one of the must-sees which I hadn’t yet seen – the High Line.

Working from the office is always a little harder when this is the view!

The weather was a little disappointing for my visit, but with beautiful lilac skies and rainbows, I couldn’t really complain! It made it all the more atmospheric for my walk to find the best slice in the city and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Every time I visit NYC, I’m always struck by the grandiosity, not finding it suffocating but so comforting! Walking the streets of SoHo, I had to take the recommendations of my colleagues and head to Prince Street Pizza, frequented by the likes of Pamela Anderson and dozens of other celebrities.

Don’t miss the spicy pepperoni square slice – it’s the stuff dreams are made of! And perfect sustenance for battling the rain back to my hotel.

The next day, and the weather was a little better! My coworker and I headed straight from the office over to Washington Square Park, which was so beautiful in the June sunshine – tourists were escaping the city heat by dipping their toes into the fountain, and violin music was playing.

We continued our walk along the water of Manhattan and up to the High Line, somewhere I’d heard and seen so much about but had never visited myself.

If you’re not aware, the High Line is a 1.5 mile long park up high on an abandoned railway track. Nowadays, it’s been redesigned as a ‘living system’, featuring landscape architecture, urban design, and ecology, and opened back in 2009.

We couldn’t have picked a better time for our walk, watching the sun set over the city in the most amazing golden glow!

We headed to a restaurant near Chelsea Market afterwards for delicious food and plenty of wine, before heading back to the hotel for a long and deserved sleep!

This post brings back so many memories! My first visit to New York was 3 years ago today, and I was there for 5 whole days. I loved exploring the Big Apple – there is so much to do! I particularly remember walking the High Line, crossing the Brooklyn Bridge in a blizzard and the super fast lift up to the viewing deck at Top Of The Rock 🙂 x Ps – I use the same WordPress theme as you hehe!
