‘It’s hard to imagine a bigger desert oasis than Las Vegas’, Cinnamon Stomberger famously quoted. And it’s true – with so much craziness happening in this city, it’s so hard to believe it is literally plonked in the middle of a Nevada desert.
We spent our final day exploring all the hotels we hadn’t yet seen (check out my first Vegas blog), and if you’re familiar with The Strip, you’ll know there’s a fair few to see! Each with its own different theme.
Just beyond the beautiful Mandalay Bay hotel which based on the Southern Islands at the far end of The Strip is the iconic Fabulous Las Vegas sign, so of course we had to go and check it out!
I have to point out it was absolutely roasting! But this did little to deter us or the other tourists eager to get the obligatory Vegas photo.
After a little obligatory snooze and a few laps around our hotel’s lazy river, we set off in search of steak and more sights.
The Venetian is definitely one to check out – a beautiful hotel based on the gorgeous Italian city, complete with gondola rides.
And take a peek inside Caesars Palace (particularly familiar to those of you who love The Hangover as much as I do!) – it even has its very own Trevi Fountain!
Be sure to slip inside Wynn, a luxuriously glamorous hotel which features these beautiful monuments made from real flowers.
If you can, try to get tickets for a Cirque du Soleil show. We felt this was a Vegas must-do, and as none of us had previously seen it, we were so glad we did! We’d been recommended Mystere which shows most nights at Treasure Island (apparently one of the more accessible Cirque du Soleil shows), and were all bowled away by the incredible talent and humour that we unexpectedly witnessed. I’d 100% go to another show next time in Vegas!
The rest of the night we left to spend in true Vegas fashion – gambling and drinking! We sipped on alcoholic Capri Suns (yup, that’s actually a thing) and spent most of our dimes on the fruities and at the tables.
Vegas, you’ve been even better than we ever anticipated!
