Visiting gorgeous white sandy beaches with crystal clear sea is one of my favourite bits about Florida. This time, we set off in search of one we’d never visited before, Siesta Key. Once voted the state’s best beach and promising the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico, we set off on the three hour journey from Orlando to find it.
As you reach the area, you pass incredible white-washed mansions boasting their own harbours for yachts. I loved staring out of the window picking my favourite house!
See what I mean about that water!? If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see what I mean!
After sizzling in the sun for a few hours, we upped sticks and grabbed a cold drink before setting off in search of the pretty city of Sarasota. I rather liked the look of this tiki bar on the bayfront!
You may recognise this statue, named ‘Unconditional Surrender’. I think there’s something hopelessly romantic about it – I just imagined sailors leaving their girlfriends behind as they went off on a mission to save their country. What do you think?
We walked along the harbour, spotting incredible yachts and adorable fishing boats.
I love the art deco style of this gateway – it really reminded me of the beautiful architecture I saw a few years ago in Miami.
A beautiful day exploring an area of Florida I’ve never seen before.
