My Dream Holiday Destinations

It’s a pretty grey Tuesday here where I’m sat.

The sort of Tuesday that has me dreaming about destinations I’d love to visit and things I’d love to see.

I’ve compiled a (much abbreviated) list of places I’d love to visit in the future, and thought I’d share them with you.

Ok, so there are plenty more I’d like to see but here’s what I’ve put together for now. Note most of the destinations are pretty hot – don’t forget I am an English girl who puts up with a lot of cold drizzle in this country so I do like a bit of a contrast whenever I can get one!

Bora Bora

With its sparkling aqua blue waters and idyllic thatched huts spread out across the ocean, Bora Bora has been possibly my number one dream destination for as long as I can remember. I think it has so much appeal for me because it literally looks like paradise. I can just imagine waking up in one of these huts to a glass-floor where I can look down and see tropical fish squirming through the water, before walking across the wooden decking to spend time on the warm sandy beach sipping cocktails. And when that gets too tough(!), I’ll go snorkelling among the coral, shopping for pearls, or 4x4ing through the thick jungle. A definite honeymoon destination for me!

Dubai

Dubai is another place that’s always been on my list, and unfortunately I’ve only ever been through its airport, which was a bit of a tease.  This place has always inspired me because of its opulence and grandeur – a mission to do everything better, thanks to the money that is quite simply “spaffed” at it! I’d love to experience the view from the Burj Khalifa, possibly even skydive, and ogle at the ridiculously expensive sports cars cruising down the roads. I imagine it would be a great place to go with a few girlfriends – primarily for the shopping, the sunbathing, the impressive hotels, and then fun in the evening thanks to the 4×4 ‘dune bash’ you can experience in the desert. I’d also love to get stuck in to a place that has such a diverse and interesting culture.

The Whitsunday Islands

Over to Australia now, a country I don’t think I could ever get bored of. Despite having visited a couple of Australia’s main cities, I only touched on a couple of Aussie beaches, but these islands really strike me as being incredible. Everybody’s seen the idyllic images – vast stretches of pearly white sand beaches and beautiful sparkling turquoise water. As it’s bordered by the Great Barrier Reef, I’d love to snorkel and dive among the tropical fish and lounge on the beautiful beaches. Have you been?

Cape Town

I’ve never been to Africa, but there are so many places on the continent that I’d love to see. Cape Town is one place that has really caught my eye – it offers huge variety, with dramatic mountains, beaches, and a bustling city. I’d love to take in the views from the top of Table Mountain, see the African penguins, and experience the crazy nightlife that the city has to offer. After this I want to fly over to Tanzania, climb Mount Kilimanjaro, and sit and relax on the stunning beaches of the country. Not much to ask, eh!?

Fiji

Fiji doesn’t need much of an introduction – this cluster of beautiful, tropical islands are nestled in the heart of the South Pacific Ocean, offering a plethora of hideaways, incredible beaches, and palm trees. I’d love to spend my days here cruising around the islands, or checking out some of the many fabulous spas spread throughout the islands. There is also the opportunity to swim with sharks which I think would be pretty exhilarating! Whilst in Australia, I got a bit of a taste for surfing, so I’d love to check the Fijian surf scene out too!

Rio de Janeiro

With all of the excitement of the World Cup and the upcoming Olympics, there’s never been a better place to check out Rio. South America is another continent I’ve never visited, but there is so much I’d love to explore there. I’d love to climb up to see Christ the Redeember and stare down upon the city – and Sugarloaf Mountain. And when I’m bored of this, I’ll be off to the Copacabana to sip caipiranhas! I’ve also heard great things about a Brazilian barbecue and their steak, so I’ll definitely be taking advantage of the dining scene!

Lake Louise

Banff is one area of Canada I’ve not yet had the chance to explore. Every time I see it on the TV or in pictures, it just makes me want to visit so badly! I love having the chance to be active on holiday, so the thought of the white water rafting, hiking, cycling, and then relaxing in the hot springs and spas is just so up my street! I just can’t wait to see the sparkling blue lakes and snowy mountains one day, and I hear this hotel is the place to stay!

Palm Springs

I’ve travelled around a lot of the USA, but haven’t yet got here and it’s a place that really appeals. I really like the idea of the relaxed beaches, hours of sunshine, and the culture of San Diego, before moving on to the desert of Palm Springs. You’ll find me in a casino before splashing about in the hot springs. I’d also absolutely love to visit Coachella Festival – watch this space! If you’ve not heard about it before – check it out here. A glamorous festival in the desert without wellies and mud would certainly be a contrast for me!

Positano

A tiny village settled on the banks of the Amalfi Coast, Positano has always had an attraction for me due to the sheer beauty of the place. I can picture myself exploring the little cobble streets and picking the imaginary house I’d one day love to live in that offers a sprawling view of the beautiful ocean. I’ll sip coffee and dine al fresco from one of the little outdoor seating areas of a cafe, before browsing through the designer boutiques.

Paris

Admittedly, aside from Disney, I’ve never actually been to Paris. It’s the sort of destination I’m saving for a romantic mini break one weekend! I’ve romanticised the place so much in my head – I can’t wait to walk down the Champs-Elysées, eat escargot, experience the view from the top of the Eiffel Tower, eat macaroons from Ladurée, and all the other cliché tourist bits and bobs that are on the bucket list, along with some others!
